Churchlands vs Mount Lawley
Score: 2-2
First Half: Luca (5th minute)
Second Half: Thomas Tong (40th minute), Mitchell Furness (42th minute), Ben (50th minute)
Yesterday was the first match of Smarter Than Smoking Glory Soccer Cup Tournament for the Mount Lawley Middle School Soccer Club. They played sensational despite many disadvantages like, bad preparations, lack of training, many big players on Churchlands side, and hearing that Churchlands thrashed Perth Modern 8-0!
This is a great result for us. A draw was what we were looking for. Everyone contributed to the games with some great defending and beautiful passing display. Here are some Major highlight reels:
FIRST HALF:
5th Minute: Churchland's striker strikes the ball from outside the box, Dima (Russian Goalkeeper) does a wonderful diving save, but then Luca pounces on the rebound and scores. 1-0!
8th-15th minute: Possession mainly dominated by Churchlands. Great defending by Lance and Leslie to keep them at bay.
22nd minute: Great passing by Mount Lawley, one twos and through balls. What's this! a defensive error by the opposition. Ball's bouncing, one on one with goalkeeper Mahamoud kicks the ball and doesn't connect properly, and horribly misses. What a chance!
23rd minute: Frederick Wong with the ball, sees two large figures coming at him. AND does a Zinedine Zidane like 360 spin and passes them with a grin on his face. What creative skill by him!
24th-30th minute: Mount Lawley dominated but couldn't find an opening past this solid defence.
HALF TIME!:
10 minute break! everyone huddled up together, drinking water/gatorade, and eating some orange slices thanks to some fine cutting by Lewis Tate! A pep talk with the group. Me telling my brother to just be himself, "play with killer instinct brother". After discussing tactics and making substitutions, the team got back on the field eager/determined to win.
SECOND HALF:
4oth minute: Ahmed with the ball, sees Thomas,What's this! he does a chip through ball cuts through the whole defence, reaching Thomas, he's one on one, strikes the ball and SCORES a goal into bottom left corner. 1-1! What great composure and finishing by him!
42nd: Looks like the coache's pep talk worked! GOAL! Mitchell scores a great goal due to defensive error into bottom right corner! 1-2!
42th-49th minute: Some fantastic defending by Lance, Jacob, Leslie, and Lewis! slide tackles were commit and powerful headers and clearances.
50th minute: Dimar foolishly runs out and tried to hit the ball in the air away, but Ben comes in with his tall physique and headers the ball into the goals. 2-2!
59th minute: everyone's desperate to score a goal but it looks it's a tie!
FULL TIME!
referee blows whistle! game over! everyone shook hands and said "good game".
Mount Lawley satisfied with the result and we went home!
Sorry guys! if you don't know these year nines or aren't interested in this post! But I'm passionate about soccer! Got to express myself in this way!

Note: UEFA CHAMPIONS LEAGUE FINALS!!! On Thursday morning at 2:00am on SBS is the finals between Manchester United and Barcelona! Who will win? Who will be the best club in Europe?
That's all from me! BYE!
hey tonga, im helping coaching with the home games, so ill be there next week
ReplyDeletecool!
ReplyDeletebring some Mount Lawley supporters! or cheerleaders!
the next match is on Wednesday June 10th after school. we meet at the Gym at 2:50pm-3:00pm first! then they start playing at about 3:45pm and finish at about 5-5:20pm!
awesome, that works out perfectly tonga.
ReplyDeleteIll kebab it up, be back for 3pm, stay for the game and help coach, then go straight to my soccer training after that
and ill see what i can do about cheerleaders =-P
Finn doesn't count
ReplyDeletedang, he was who i had in mind...
ReplyDeletewithout finn, i got nothing
I know, pretty good plan! but thats in the middle of exams though! On that day, at AM: is English Literature, and Business + Enterprise exams
ReplyDeleteand at PM: is media, accounting and ancient history exams!
It was pretty fun coaching year nines!
ReplyDeleteI noticed that Kia is shorter than my brother and most of the year nines.
and its funny how the year nines make fun of Kia so much, just like us year elevens!
ReplyDeleteLewis Tate is like: "Kia my brother says your a pilgrim!" "oh no a mormon, yeah a mormon your a mormon" man that was funny.
and someone else was like: "so Kia, do you own an AK-47, grenade, RPG, etc."
"Kia's got weapons of mass destruction in his backyard"
man these guys are so racist.
Congrats Tonga, good result. Can't wait to see your team in action. Manchester Untited should have no trouble defeating Barcelona. Barca are missing there two central defenders so as long as Man U can keep Messi out of the game, the trophy will find it's way back to England no sweat.
ReplyDeletethanks Jordan, i need to inspire my team so they can win! We're home against Perth Modern! Churchlands beat them 8-0 and we drew Churchlands 2-2! so we should win this if we take our chances!
ReplyDeleteyeah Manchester are more likely to win UEFA. England teams are very strong these days! But we will see who wins!
ReplyDeleteim going for barcelona, purely because my hate for Man U has reached its peak.
ReplyDeleteagreed, but how is that at all relevant?
ReplyDeletewhat's with the big hate on Finn? he hasn't done anything to anyone! or did he?
ReplyDeletetonga he totally 'bailed' on everyone.... whatever that means
ReplyDeletebtw tonga, "he hasn't done anything to anyone!"
ReplyDeleteYou couldnt possibly be any more wrong
sorry riley, I'm always the last guy to know what happens, so anyone want to tell me what he did? or is it like "it's none of your business tonga, only non-asian are involved in this!"
ReplyDeleteROFL, tonga, im as ill-informed as you. All i know is he bailed on someone for something, as did jordan o_O
ReplyDeleteLol, stop hatin' on Finn, anonymous.
ReplyDeleteoh is that why Jordan was not here today?
ReplyDeletei have no idea, maybe.
ReplyDeleteand anonymous, i beg of you, please DO NOT stop hatin' on Finn
I wonder, how many people actually read my post today? or did they just post comments and not be bothered to read my post. I know that Riley and Jordan read it!
ReplyDeletegood result considering that russian kid was the goalie :D
ReplyDeletegood boy finn! you read my very long post!
ReplyDeleteyeah I've been training him as goalie! thats why he's getting a little better at it.
lol, im thinking he'll need A LOT of training, even from the great tonga
ReplyDeleteIs dima another name for Dmitry?
ReplyDelete..cos it's the same for my dad.
lawlll
our defence is good, our midfield needs a few improvements, and our strikers are good!
ReplyDeleteyeah Dima is what we call him, but his long name is Dimitri or something. He and the others think I'm the best goalie at this school! they think i'm a superstar! YEAH
ReplyDeletethats coz u are a superstar tonga!
ReplyDeletetonga i loled at ur save at lucnh 2!
ReplyDeletethe year 12 was like one on one wit u, and charges a power shot at u. and it hit u in the stomach like a big BANG sound! and u caught it! ur so cool!
yeah my stomach took a beating, poor stomach!
ReplyDeletewell i healed it by giving it food!
all the years nines respect me, but only some respect Kia, poor Kia.
ReplyDeleteactually it Kia's fault for swearing at them!
ReplyDeletei would honestly love to see that
ReplyDeletechill man! calm down homie! If u want to smash him, sign up for that fight that chris scaglioni organized unless you already have.
ReplyDeletemy name is mentioned in 1/4 of the comments even though this post has no relevance to me
ReplyDeleteand pretty sure that anon is scag or a troll
we are also versing Balcatta and Shenton College in this soccer competition.Oh man, we get the hardest group table!
ReplyDeletebut we can win this!
Oh and anyone going to mocktail party in week 7 or 8?
yep i'm going to mocktail party
ReplyDeleteand it wouldn't be scag, he ditched the internets in order to study for the exams
it's probably just a troll
ok cool! anyone else going?
ReplyDeleteand i don't think it was chris because he has a blog account! he would comment under his account.
yeah Tonga i think most of us are going. This "mock"tail party could be quite fun.
