Churchlands vs Mount Lawley

Churchlands vs Mount Lawley
Score: 2-2
First Half: Luca (5th minute)
Second Half: Thomas Tong (40th minute), Mitchell Furness (42th minute), Ben (50th minute)
Yesterday was the first match of Smarter Than Smoking Glory Soccer Cup Tournament for the Mount Lawley Middle School Soccer Club. They played sensational despite many disadvantages like, bad preparations, lack of training, many big players on Churchlands side, and hearing that Churchlands thrashed Perth Modern 8-0!
This is a great result for us. A draw was what we were looking for. Everyone contributed to the games with some great defending and beautiful passing display. Here are some Major highlight reels:
FIRST HALF:
5th Minute: Churchland's striker strikes the ball from outside the box, Dima (Russian Goalkeeper) does a wonderful diving save, but then Luca pounces on the rebound and scores. 1-0!
8th-15th minute: Possession mainly dominated by Churchlands. Great defending by Lance and Leslie to keep them at bay.
22nd minute: Great passing by Mount Lawley, one twos and through balls. What's this! a defensive error by the opposition. Ball's bouncing, one on one with goalkeeper Mahamoud kicks the ball and doesn't connect properly, and horribly misses. What a chance!
23rd minute: Frederick Wong with the ball, sees two large figures coming at him. AND does a Zinedine Zidane like 360 spin and passes them with a grin on his face. What creative skill by him!
24th-30th minute: Mount Lawley dominated but couldn't find an opening past this solid defence.
HALF TIME!:
10 minute break! everyone huddled up together, drinking water/gatorade, and eating some orange slices thanks to some fine cutting by Lewis Tate! A pep talk with the group. Me telling my brother to just be himself, "play with killer instinct brother". After discussing tactics and making substitutions, the team got back on the field eager/determined to win.
SECOND HALF:
4oth minute: Ahmed with the ball, sees Thomas,What's this! he does a chip through ball cuts through the whole defence, reaching Thomas, he's one on one, strikes the ball and SCORES a goal into bottom left corner. 1-1! What great composure and finishing by him!
42nd: Looks like the coache's pep talk worked! GOAL! Mitchell scores a great goal due to defensive error into bottom right corner! 1-2!
42th-49th minute: Some fantastic defending by Lance, Jacob, Leslie, and Lewis! slide tackles were commit and powerful headers and clearances.
50th minute: Dimar foolishly runs out and tried to hit the ball in the air away, but Ben comes in with his tall physique and headers the ball into the goals. 2-2!
59th minute: everyone's desperate to score a goal but it looks it's a tie!
FULL TIME!
referee blows whistle! game over! everyone shook hands and said "good game".
Mount Lawley satisfied with the result and we went home!
Sorry guys! if you don't know these year nines or aren't interested in this post! But I'm passionate about soccer! Got to express myself in this way!
Our next game is a home game against Perth Modern! Yes right here at our school! I will give you further details on the date.
Note: UEFA CHAMPIONS LEAGUE FINALS!!! On Thursday morning at 2:00am on SBS is the finals between Manchester United and Barcelona! Who will win? Who will be the best club in Europe?

  7. It was pretty fun coaching year nines!
I noticed that Kia is shorter than my brother and most of the year nines.

    ReplyDelete
  8. and its funny how the year nines make fun of Kia so much, just like us year elevens!
Lewis Tate is like: "Kia my brother says your a pilgrim!" "oh no a mormon, yeah a mormon your a mormon" man that was funny.
and someone else was like: "so Kia, do you own an AK-47, grenade, RPG, etc."
"Kia's got weapons of mass destruction in his backyard"
man these guys are so racist.

  9. Congrats Tonga, good result. Can't wait to see your team in action. Manchester Untited should have no trouble defeating Barcelona. Barca are missing there two central defenders so as long as Man U can keep Messi out of the game, the trophy will find it's way back to England no sweat.

  10. thanks Jordan, i need to inspire my team so they can win! We're home against Perth Modern! Churchlands beat them 8-0 and we drew Churchlands 2-2! so we should win this if we take our chances!
